Reflecting on a Remarkable First Year

The year 2024 was a year of first beginnings, for Battle River Lending Place, filled with moments showing the strength of community and the power of compassion. As we close this chapter, Battle River Lending Place reflects on a year filled with milestones, heartfelt stories, and support from our community.


A Year of Milestones

Our journey began on January 24, 2024, with a joyful Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony. We were honored to have Jackie Lovely join us with ribbon-cutting scissors in hand, marking the beginning of our mission to provide free access to medical and mobility equipment. The commemorative plaque presented that day now proudly hangs on our office wall as a reminder of our commitment to serving Camrose and the surrounding communities.


Stories of Resilience

This year, we witnessed acts of generosity and compassion, including donations from: the Camrose Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, The Rotary Club of Camrose, The Family Thrift Store of Camrose, the Rosalind Scrapbook Committee following their scrapbooking event in Rosalind, and all who have made anonymous donations.

We’ve also been touched by stories like John and Mary’s journey. John’s goal to bring his wife home after a hospital stay resulted in our team providing the equipment needed for her safety and comfort. Similarly, we enabled a family in creating a loving environment for their son in palliative care, allowing him to spend his final days surrounded by those he loved most. These moments remind us of why we do what we do.


Looking Ahead

In addition to providing assistive equipment, this year we received timely donations, including a social media call out for wheelchairs, that resulted in 15 well-needed wheelchairs. As we step into 2025, we look forward to building a stronger, more resilient community.
