Bob first came to the Lending Place when his wife needed support during a difficult time in her health. Like so many families, they wanted to stay together at home where she felt safe and surrounded by love. Borrowed equipment allowed them to share that time in the comfort of their own space.

Bob also purchased equipment for his wife as her needs changed. And when she passed, he did something extraordinary. He brought those pieces to the Lending Place—including an electric wheelchair—so someone else could have the same gift of time, comfort, and dignity.

We see stories like Bob’s every week. Equipment donated after a recovery, after a successful surgery, or after the passing of a loved one often carries memories, emotion, and a desire to help someone else:

Donations like these keep more than 1,500 pieces of equipment moving through our community. They give families the chance to go home sooner, stay safe longer, and be together when it matters most.

Bob’s generosity, and the generosity of so many others, is the reason someone sleeps in their own bed tonight instead of a hospital room. It’s the reason a caregiver gets a moment of peace. It’s the reason a person can heal where they feel loved.
